What We Believe In
We believe that all young people should have the opportunity to participate in activities that enrich their lives, expose them to managed risk and help them to grow in confidence.
For many young people horses hold huge appeal, and through exploring their passion, they can gain skills that will help them as they transition into adulthood. Many young people who learn at Stepney go on to have careers with horses but, for those who don't, the valuable skills and experience they've gained can be transferred to other settings.
Young people can engage with us as Junior or Young Volunteers. Through volunteering they make new friends, have access to training, try new activities, participate in trips and residentials, gain experience and qualifications that will open doors to new opportunities.
Young people can also engage through our Alternative Provision program for young people who are struggling in mainstream education. They follow an equestrian curriculum which is mapped across the National Curriculum. They can work towards Equestrian and Personal Development qualifications as well as participating in trips to other equestrian establishments to broaden their awareness of employment opportunities within the equestrian world.
Engaging with horses with support from trusted, caring adults can be truly transformational in young lives.
"X started when she was 8 and now it's her whole life. Highly recommend, the staff are amazing and the horses are wonderful. Without Stepney I'm not sure X would feel like she fits in anywhere but this is a safe, caring place and they are just amazing."
